Helping Reactive Dogs Thrive
Living with a reactive dog can feel isolating and overwhelming — but you're not alone, and things can improve. At First Place Dog Training, we specialise in compassionate, science-backed support for dogs who bark, lunge, or struggle to stay calm in everyday situations. Whether your dog reacts to other dogs, people, or specific environments, we're here to guide you through it — one step at a time.
Our 1-2-1 Reactive Dog Training sessions are led by an approved Reactivity Coach and tailored to your dog's unique challenges — whether that's reactivity towards other dogs, people, or specific environments. Using structured, force-free methods, we'll work together to build confidence, promote calm behaviour, and give you practical strategies to feel more in control on your walks and in daily life.
Initial Consultation
Duration: 60-90 minutes
Before beginning any training block, we start with a comprehensive initial consultation. This session is a required first step and allows us to understand your dog's background, behaviours, and specific triggers in detail. Together, we'll set clear goals and develop a tailored training plan that suits both you and your dog.
You'll also receive a free clicker to support your training journey and learn how to use it effectively to reinforce calm, desirable behaviours.
6-Session Block
Session Duration: 45-60 minutes
Perfect for owners ready to commit to positive progress. These sessions help build focus, resilience, and better coping strategies for your dog. Training is adapted to your dog's pace, with practical, real-world setups where appropriate.
10-Session Block
Session Duration: 45-60 minutes
Designed for dogs with more complex behavioural needs or owners looking for extended support. This block allows for more time to work through reactivity triggers, expand on skills, and build reliable behaviour changes. Includes work in varied environments and continued support as needed.
Progression to Small Group Training
Once your dog has reached a suitable level through 1-2-1 sessions, you may be able to join our Reactive Dog Small Group Training . These small, carefully designed and managed sessions offer an opportunity to continue training around other dogs and people in a controlled, supportive setting.
